Fall Community Events!

The 2010 NC State Fair!

It only comes around once a year, so Celebrate What's Great!  Always fun for the whole family, the NC State Fair is held in Raleigh at the NC State Fairgrounds, Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 24.  Both admission and ride tickets are at a discount until the fair begins, either online (click link above) or at the gate.  Kids 5 and under are free at the gate, and kids 6-12 are $2 in advance or $3 during the festivities.  Not only are there rides for every member of the family, there are animals, exhibits, games, and ... oh yeah, FOOD!  ;)

Kidsfest

The City of Raleigh is hosting Kidfest at Spring Forest Road Park on Saturday, October 9 from noon to 4p (click on link for address and park/ride info).  Admission is free for all ages to enjoy food, entertainment, games, and rides, along with a rock wall and a hay ride and more!  The Raleigh Police and Fire Departments will also be there.

Great Pumpkin 5k Road Race

It's the perfect time of year for a run!  Morrisville's 9th Annual Great Pumpkin 5k Road Race will be held on Saturday, October 16.  The 5k starts at Cedar Forks Community Center at 9a, followed by the mile at 10a.  Click on the link above to register (deadline is October 14).

Hay Day at the Hills

Another day of Fall fun is on tap at Laurel Hills Park in Raleigh on Sunday, October 17 from 1p to 5p.  There will be food, main stage entertainment, hay rides, pumpkin picking, inflatables, and more!  Admission is free, but there may be a cost for some of the activities; activity wristbands may be purchased on site.  Proceeds go toward renovations at the new Sassafras All Children's Playground @ Laurel Hills Park (http://sassafrasplay.org/whats-up/).

Town of Cary Halloween Events

October 22-31. Click the link above to find out about the Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary, the Reel-ly Scary Movie Series, the Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash, and the Safe-n-Sane Halloween Celebration!

Cary Diwali Celebration

Cary's 10th Hindu Festival of Lights will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 10:30a - 8:30p @ the Koka Booth Amphitheatre.  Diwali marks the victory of good over evil and the beginning of the New Year. There will be Indian food, music, and exhibits, and a fireworks display to end the night. 

Cary Cycling Celebration

The 7th Annual Cary Cycling Celebration is partnering with the Jimmy V Foundation (www.jimmyv.org) at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre on Sunday, October 25 @ 9a to raise money to fight cancer.  Fully supported rides between 25 and 100 miles are followed by family and other events.  Click on the link for full information.
